The EC International College of Teacher Training full-time and part-time CELTA courses in Toronto are officially approved by Cambridge Assessment English, and meet the standards for TESL Canada (standard one). Toronto CELTA Course Information

  • Overview

    Our CELTA teacher training course gives you both the theory and teaching practice necessary in the English language teaching industry. Three quarters of English Language Teaching (ELT) jobs ask for the Cambridge CELTA. To watch a webinar from Cambridge entitled, 'The ultimate guide to CELTA', click here. 

    At EC we offer both full-time (4 weeks) and part-time (12 weeks) options. 

    Our CELTA course:

    - Involves a minimum of 120 hours with additional time required for preparation and assignments.

    - Provides observed teaching practice experience with multilingual English language learners from the Toronto area.

    - Follows the Cambridge CELTA syllabus and provides practical and professional awareness of learners, language, methodology and materials.

    - Develops practical ability in classroom management, lesson planning, introduction and practice of new language, and the development of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

    - Is intended for native speakers of English and those whose English is of native-speaker level.

    - Provides pre-service training to those with no teaching experience, but is also suited to those already in the profession and in need of a formal qualification.

    The full-time intensive course runs Monday to Friday, 9 am-5:30 pm (approx.) for 4 consecutive weeks.

    2024 Part-time Online Course Dates and Fees

    The part-time course runs Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6 pm-10 pm (approx.) with six alternating Saturdays, 10 am-4:30 pm for 12 consecutive weeks.

    Note: All part-time courses are fully online using a blend of synchronous and asynchronous instruction


    Due to the limited number of spaces available on each course and the time necessary for candidates to complete the pre-course assignment, all candidates are strongly encouraged to submit their completed applications at least a full month before the start date of each course.
